Both Simon and the Conran family hold strong ties to the historic Brooklands racetrack in Surrey. Although the circuit hosted its last race in 1939, aircraft manufacture continued on the site until 1989 and the Brooklands Museum (built on the existing site of the world’s first purpose built race track) now houses the largest collection of Brooklands designed and built cars and aircraft.

An aeromechanical systems engineer, accomplished pilot and amateur motorcar racing enthusiast, Simon Jeffs first came together with Sebastian Conran (son of the late Sir Terence) in 2005. Their first collaboration was a project to transform the nose of a Concorde aircraft into an imposing stainless steel sculpture. It was around this time that Simon’s inspiration for Brooklands Watch Company was born.
Simon had long harboured a fascination for mechanical wrist watches and this, combined with a passion for motor racing and aviation, melded together during a visit to Brooklands in the summer of 2017
A year later, Simon approached Sir Terence Conran with a vision – to design a luxury wrist watch which would pay homage to the nostalgia of Brooklands.
The limited edition Triple-Four Racing Chronograph is Sir Terence’s penultimate Brooklands design piece and is, as Simon so eloquently states, “A piece of art with a purpose. It has a beating heart and a story of British motor racing to tell. It’s a beautiful mechanical Swiss-made watch of the highest quality, designed by one of the great British designers.”
Each of the 500 Swiss-made limited edition pieces is individually numbered and signed by Sir Terence and is presented in a ‘Conran Blue’ velvet-lined case.

The design draws inspiration from the Napier Railton, the legendary 24 litre aero-engined racing car which broke land speed records throughout the 1930’s.
Sir Terence was captivated by the Napier Railton during his last visit to Brooklands and the exhibition back of the Triple-Four reveals a bespoke rotor design inspired by the Napier’s triple-four aero aircraft engine. The heritage white one piece face has contrasting ice-white bi-compax sub dials and a unique outer perimeter banked at the same angle as the Brooklands track. The chronograph second hand and sub dial hands have a circular counterweight design modelled off the Chronograph Villa clock which still resides trackside at Brooklands today. The 20mm wide leather strap in Conran Blue pays homage to the block tyre tread pattern of these early magnificent racing machines.
Retailing exclusively through the Conran shop and Brooklands website, the Triple-Four is presented in a luxurious velvet-lined box held down by charming and thoughtfully designed tiny replica bonnet straps. In addition, all owners receive a members badge which entitles them to a drive on the Brooklands world-famous Test Hill track in the specially commissioned Brooklands Watch Company electric Bugatti Baby II car.

This limited edition timepiece is indeed like a classic car; functional but with a rarefied golden-age beauty and elegance.
