The Alliance presents British watchmaking at the Hong Kong International Watch Forum

An invitation to speak at the 2024 Hong Kong International Watch Forum came as both a pleasant surprise and was a milestone moment for the Alliance.

Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, the event is one of the key dates on the international calendar, comprising the 43rd Hong Kong Watch and Clock Fair and 12th Salon de Time and featuring more than 700 exhibitors with 17,000 visitors from 106 countries.
This was the first time our trade body had been invited to speak alongside peer trade associations at an international event. Alistair Audsley gave a presentation on the history and current trading status of the British watchmaking sector and later participated in a roundtable discussion on sustainability in the watch sector alongside the heads of other international trade bodies from China, Switzerland, Japan, France and South Korea.
Alistair remarked; “It was an honour to be invited by the Hong Kong TDC and to be able to present our British sector to the audience. It was also a reminder how important our job is in raising awareness of British watch and clock making. I could tell from the audience reaction how surprised they were to learn about Britain’s exceptional history in watchmaking and the fact we have 106 member brands. It was a unique opportunity to meet senior figures in the Hong Kong sector and make new friendships with other sector leaders from around the world.”
