If you are a business, these terms of use, their subject matter, and their formation (and any non-contractual disputes or claims) are governed by English law. We both agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

The Alliance of British Watch and Clock Makers™ (word mark) and ™ are, amongst others, our trade marks.
You are not permitted to use these trademarks or any of our other trademarks without our approval, unless they are part of material you are using as permitted under How you may use material on our site.

 

WEE regulations

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive is now UK law. The legislation aims to make producers pay for the collection, treatment and recovery of waste electrical equipment. The regulations also mean that suppliers of equipment like high street shops and internet retailers must allow consumers to return their waste equipment free of charge.

The amount of WEEE we throw away is increasing by around 5% each year, making it the fastest growing waste stream in the UK.

Much of the UK’s WEEE ends up in landfill, where the lead and other toxins it contains can cause soil and water contamination. This can have a harmful effect on natural habitat, wildlife and also human health.

Many electrical items that we throw away can be repaired or recycled. Recycling items helps to save our natural finite resources and also reduces the environmental and health risks associated with sending electrical goods to landfill.

Distributors of new Electric and Electronic Equipment (EEE) have a part to play in reducing the amount of WEEE going into landfill sites.

The Alliance of British Watch and Clock Makers Limited is obliged under these regulations to offer our customers free take-back of their WEEE on a like-for-like basis when they buy a new electrical or electronic product from us.

In our case this applies to watches containing a quartz movement which are fitted with a battery and watch winders (WEEE items).

For example, if a customer buys anything which we define as being a WEEE item (see above) we would accept their old item back, free of charge, on a like for like basis and prevent it going into a landfill site by disposing of it safely. Customers must return their WEEE item to us within 60 days of purchasing their new item. Return postage will be paid by us.

If any customer wishes to return their WEEE item, they should first contact [email protected] to obtain returns information. We will happily guide you through the process.

Under the WEEE Regulations, all new electrical goods should now be marked with the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol shown below:

Goods are marked with this symbol to show that they were produced after 13th August 2005, and should be disposed of separately from normal household waste so that they can be recycled.

Our terms of sale

You (the purchaser) are entitled to cancel your order within 14 days and return the goods within a further 14 days for a full refund, including our delivery costs. You can do this by contacting us by email or telephone and quoting the date of purchase and transaction number supplied to you and we will send you a returns form. You are responsible for the cost and risk of loss or damage when returning the goods, so you should take out enough postal insurance to cover their value. This cancellation policy does not affect your rights when we are at fault – for example, if goods are faulty or inaccurately described.

Any goods returned should be in saleable condition, undamaged and in their original unopened packaging accompanied by the completed returns form.

Your refund will be paid within 30 days.

These terms apply to your order. We may change our terms and conditions at any time, so please do not assume that the same terms will apply in the future.

None of these terms affect your legal rights under English law and these are not diminished in any way. If any term is held to be invalid under any applicable English statute or rule of law, that term is automatically omitted from the terms to the minimum extent necessary to comply with the law and without affecting the validity or enforceability of the remainder.

Facebook custom audience

We use your personal data to create custom audiences and lookalike audiences on Facebook for the purpose of advertising our products to you.

When custom audiences are created, Facebook acting as the data processor (we are the data controller) uses our Customer Relationship Management (CRM)data to match it to people with a Facebook account to create a Custom Audience for our advertising campaigns.

When we set up a custom audience, we provide Facebook with Hashed Data (achieved by reducing the data to a string of characters for security purposes) which we upload from our database. Facebook then match our Hashed Data with their Hashed Data, which is made up of Facebook email addresses.

For this section, the following definitions apply:

• custom audience is a type of audience on a social media platform that comprises our customers, which may include you if you have the relevant social media account; and
• lookalike audience is a type of audience which uses a custom audience to identify the common qualities of the individuals in it (such as demographic information or interests)

Google reCAPTCHA

We use “Google reCAPTCHA” (hereinafter referred to as “reCAPTCHA”) on our website. The provider is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (“Google”).

The purpose of reCAPTCHA is to determine whether data entered on our website e.g. information entered into a contact form, is being provided by a human user or by an automated program.
